Dr. Matt Smith
Dr. Matt Smith is a Mt. Juliet native and a 2003 graduate of Wilson Central High School. Growing up, he showed his dedication to athletics by being a part of his school’s basketball, soccer, and golf team. Like many athletes, he experienced common sports injuries, but one particular injury would change his life forever.
While playing basketball in college, he suffered from a back injury that knocked the breath out of him and caused him to drop to his knees. This was a pain he had never experienced before. He tried home remedies, massage therapists, and pain medication, but he was unable to find relief from the excruciating pain. His father suggested that he see a chiropractor. He took his father’s advice and set up an appointment. After a thorough exam and X-rays the problem was clear: a misalignment of the spine was pressing on the nerves. Two more visits to the chiropractor, and the pain was gone!
The chiropractor provided insight as well as treatment. He taught him the difference between treating the pain and treating the problem. Dr. Smith quickly learned the power of chiropractic medicine, and through these positive experiences with chiropractic care, he found his calling in life. He wanted to serve others by becoming a chiropractor.
Dr. Smith earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Tennessee Technological University in May 2008. He continued his education at Palmer College of Chiropractic and graduated Magna Cum Laude in September 2014. As an intern at Palmer clinic, he successfully treated a variety of conditions including sciatica, scoliosis, chronic neck and back pain, headaches, extremity conditions, and sports injuries. He also made weekly visits to the Salvation Army and the Women’s and Men’s Safe Haven in Daytona Beach, FL. At these locations, he had the opportunity to treat and assist those that were striving to make a positive change in their lives. Dr. Smith has a heart for service, and has been blessed with the gift of healing through chiropractic care.
