Electrical Muscle Stimulation
Our doctor uses electrical muscle stimulation as a therapeutic method to strengthen weak muscles, reduce spasms, decrease inflammation, and minimize pain. During electrical muscle stimulation therapy, small electrodes are placed on the skin and send electrical impulses to the muscles which cause them to contract and become stronger. This unique electrical muscle stimulation therapy promotes recovery and is actually incredibly relaxing. We compare it to an electrical massage!
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a popular technique for treating pain using a dry needle inserted into muscle, often associated with acupuncture. During a dry needling treatment, Dr. Smith will insert a small filament needle through the skin into specific muscles at specific trigger points. The insertion of the needle causes a ‘twitch’ response in the muscle or muscle groups, followed by relaxation. Dry needling is a highly effective treatment that is known to increase blood flow, reduce muscle tightness, and restore range of motion.
